Aquarium Facilities

Karachi Zoo has one Fish Aquarium constructed in the year 1953, which is situated inside the Karachi Zoo nearby Gate No. 2. This Aquarium has a total of 28 exhibition tanks having 500-600 fish of 20 different species.

New Fish Aquarium

This Aquarium has recently been constructed over an area of 2150 Sq Ft, having 8 Nos. of exhibition tanks of 8’ X 6’ ft size. The Aquarium is now equipped with all basic necessities and open for visitors. The Mayor and the Deputy Mayor, Karachi inaugurated the Newly Constructed Aquarium. The Aquarium has now rear fish for display.

Green Areas

Besides Wild Animals, Karachi Zoo has old trees, say more than 200 years. Prominent amongst them are Banyan Trees, Imli (Tamarind), Neem etc., large size of historical trees, beautiful shaded paths with sounds of hundreds of birds and floating ducks. It is a haven both for the visitors and animals.

Mughal Garden:

A garden in Mughal style was established in the year 1960. Lush green lawns with seasonal scattered plants, occupy major part of the garden accompanied with Mughal style fountains.
It is one of the finest green floral spots in the city Different varieties of Roses in many shades enhance the beauty of this garden. Centrally located fountains with Mughal structure Baradari further increases its beauty & elegance. A serious efforts and endeavor was made to restore the color of Shalimar Garden at Lahore.

Reptile House:

In Reptile House of Karachi Zoo, Tortoises, crocodiles and vast varieties of poisonous and non-poisonous snakes are present for the entertainment of visitors as well as the facility is used by zoology students for research and educational motives.

Natural History Museum:

In 1992 the Japanese Princess inaugurated the remodeled Natural History Museum. The facility is used by zoology students for research and educational motives.
Karachi Zoo has a good Natural History Museum indigenous as well as exotic stuffed animals belonging to different regions of the world have been exhibited in a very good manner. Visitors and science students can study morphological characters of animals from close quarter.

Boating Area:

Boating Area is one of the most fascinating site that attract visitors at Karachi Zoo. On the pressing demand of the public, uplift/development work around the boating area has recently been carried out especially for the visitors.

Wheeler Train.

Wheeler Train is one of the most attractive facility to provide good entertainment to the visitors especially for children.

Historical Fountain:

A beautiful fountain constructed in 1883 in memory of Bombay philanthropist Cowasjee Jehangir, dominates the central part of the park. The fountain was inaugurated by N.N Poojajee. The Gizri Stone was used in its construction.
 
This 139 years old fountain provides great entertainment to the visitors in Karachi Zoo. The Zoo administration has ensured full care and maintenance of this fountain due to its historical importance.

Mumtaz Mahal:

One of the old characters of Karachi Zoo, the Mumtaz Mahal has been maintained and for providing good entertainment to the visitors.
This character has now become a source of pleasure and joy especially for children.

Waterfalls.

A water fall is an area where water flows over a vertical drop or a series of steep drop in the course of stream or river but here in Zoo we have made two artificial waterfall one in front of the lion cages and other at the Imli road in front of the Mughal Garden.

This waterfall creates a very impressive look of jungle, water falling from a height produce a very mesmerizing and soothing effect and the flamingoes in the pool walking and they creates a very natural look and the visitor enjoys viewing them.

This waterfall in front of the historic Mughal Garden creates a very admiring look to the visitors. The crocodiles in the pond enjoys a very natural habitat of jungle while the water falls over them from a height and relax themselves in the lush green lawns on the side of the fall.
